Is MC gender-locked female & are the main love interests gender-locked male?

Currently, yes. Right now, it's just easier for me to write if I have consistent variables and characters in my head. It also helps me focus on just finishing the stories because I want to make sure each route gets the attention it deserves. Rest assured, I WILL introduce more gender options for both the MC and the main love interests, and it will be something I keep in mind as I'm writing!

How long is this game going to take to complete?

Unfortunately, it's probably going to take a really long time. This is one of the most ambitious writing projects I've done and life is unpredictable but I will do my best!

Did he sleep? Not so well, but did you sleep? Not at all. The hunger kept you up all night, and you were determined not to have anything. No room service, nothing. When you're adamant, then you don't second guess your decisions even though they seem stupid. Like, you not only starved yourself but your baby was in hunger too, how could the kid get nutrients when you don't ingest a thing.

Curled up on your bed, you looked out the window, watching the Eiffel Tower and how the sun was slowly seeping through the metal holes of the iconic landmark. Jungkook, on the other hand, was buttoning up his inner waistcoat.

What woke him up at 6 was the phone call by his secretary, who had just landed in France. He grabbed his phone and was about to head out when he was met with the hotel staff.

"Good morning sir, your breakfast will be sent to your room in a few minutes-" "That's great, I'll be heading out now. So if it's possible to place the breakfast on the table inside?" "of course, sir, will do." Jungkook thanked the man before he left to get the elevator.

He's never late for meetings. He was glad that the hotel was just a few minutes away from Mr Lim's residence, so there was nothing to worry much about.

"Mr Jeon?" Sana, the newly replaced secretary, stood at the entrance of the hotel, walked up to Jungkook. "Ms Min, hope the journey went smoothly?" "yes, it was Mr. Jeon, thank you for asking." The woman battered her eyes, talking to Jungkook in a more honeyed voice than she usually uses,

attempting to get his attention, but in fact, his eyes remained on his phone. Sana rolled her eyes and heaved a sigh, but she was definitely not gonna stop her attempts especially since she's got the benefit of doubt at the female restroom when she passed by Mr Jeon who walked out of the room.

"The driver is here." She mutters, and Jungkook lets her take a seat first, following her later. Mr Lim was best known for his latest designer fashion brand, Thriveworks that launches tonight, Mr Jeon was invited for the grand opening of the fashion show for the summer campaign pieces that Jeon Industries had created for the kick off of the collection.

Lim Seong wan shares his greeting with Celeste Montpellier, the Co-Ceo of Thriveworks, originally born and raised in France, sharing the joint Ceo position with the half korean-half french 56 year old man Seong an jun. "Greetings, Mr Jeon, it's a pleasure to meet you. I trust you had a safe journey." Mr Montpellier spoke, sharing a smile with the man beside him.

He had a fair stubble and a french crop haircut that slightly outgrown its style, combed and gelled up well, his ebony suit, accentuating his broad shoulders. the accessories that rest on his fingers and ears, though, leave him looking questionable to Jungkook as his fingers were wrapped around by a couple of rings in each finger of silver that glint in the rising sunlight.

The man beside him had a simple suit on with no presence of accesories. He definitely looked older than his age. "of course I did." Jungkook accepted the offer of a hand shake and followed the men inside the building, as Mr Jeon took his time to look around the interior of the room, it made him feel confident about his decision on allowing the two ceos to invest in his business as the two of them hold a highly reputed name in the fashion industry. "Please make yourself comfortable, Mr. Jeon."

Lim speaks as he takes a seat in front of the man. the room served its best creativity in sophisticated as the designer pieces of past and current fashion were displayed ever so thoughtfully, showcasing how this business has grown through each art of seamless garments beautifully resting in each of their own mannequins, waiting to be arranged at the main gala at the show this night,

for which ceo Jeon Jungkook has its special appearance to not only promote his agency but to also add a layer of excitement to it, bringing more fame, fans and charisma like the aura of ceo Jeon. "And the lovely lady, please take a seat."

"Thank you, Mr Celeste, it's a pleasure to meet you. You can call me Sana, Mr Jeon's personal assistant." the woman blabbered when she was not asked to. Jungkook glances over at her, rethinking his decision because he does not get the best vibes. she was not exactly Jungkook's type of secretary. He looked forward to a quiet, soft-spoken woman who would focus on her job, speak when she's asked to, and behave like she had to. he didn't even mind a bubbly natured personality.

However, Sana was the opposite of everything he sought. Jungkook notices how she batters her eyes, too, and he's fully convinced that he needs a new PA as soon as he steps at korea. "we may have emailed the invitation to you, but as a personal gesture of gratitude, we offer this invitation card which was specifically designed to invite ceo jeon to our show to express our sincere admiration to your work."

Celeste spoke in his fluent English with a hint of his French accent that added cherry to his words.

Jungkook felt grateful to have worked with amazing people like them who really acknowledged him, his company, and his artwork of the team. Even though he sits there with a cold look on his face, expressionless and no smile, he feels it within him and he's proud of his team that he got this opportunity and is being appreciated well. The server walks into the room after she's excused, leaving a large tray with a variety of appetisers and desserts that are followed by more items being placed by the next two servers.

The food stares at Jungkook like he does. It's almost telling him something that he really doesn't seem to understand. He does feel that, in fact, he's missing out on something. continuing to look at the food being placed on the table, it hits him. it totally slipped out of his mind that you probably haven't eaten anything since last night. his eyes widened at the thought of leaving you in hunger,

yet he turned away and heard Mr Seong Wan speak, allowing his thoughts to fly away. It's her adamant nature that has put her into that position, giving her a good opportunity to think through her mistakes and reform herself.

In about 15 minutes in from his thoughts he somehow feels guilty that you're probably still asleep, starving cause he knows that you're slowly growing your cravings so he decides to take you for a brunch once this meeting is over.

you watch the few tiktoks that pop up in your fyp. It's food, and you can't even express how empty your stomach is. you're aware that Jungkook is out for his work, you're mad at him of course you are, he's putting rights on you for no damn reason. it's not fair to you when you just wanted to explore the city and have food. Is it a crime for a pregnant woman to want to try new food?

The frustration you have on him is at level 05 that if you see him, you're unsure how you would behave, might throw that expensive flower pot at his face. there when you just swipe up your phone, you hear the doorbell ring. taking a look at the time on your phone, you're sure that it can't be Jungkook, it's just 9.45 he wouldn't be back until 10;30 the least. so you walk to the door, wearing that little short and the long white shirt you chose to stay in as it satisfied your comfort zone.

Opening the door slightly you've met with a man dressed in a tailor fitted suit, his hands stayed cosy inside the pockets of his pants, his loafers had been polished well and when you look up to see the man's face, you've met with a stern, cold expression frowning. Jungkook. you rolled your eyes and were about to close the door to his face when he stopped the door with his arm. "Dress up, we're going out." He mumbles and squints your eyes, wondering if you heard him, right? 'wanting to go out now? did he pity me?' "no thanks, i'm good."

you responded as you tried to close the door with force, but his strength was multiplied by yours, so you gave up and walked inside. Jungkook didn't use this opportunity that allowed him to walk inside. He maintained his distance and stood at the doorstep, trying to be patient when he could definitely feel his temper lose. "I'm making use of the free time we have. Don't be a prick. let's go." "sorry that you're wasting your free time on me, Jungkook, you don't have to.

I didn't ask for it." yelling to him, you sit on the couch with your arms crossed and towards your chest. He leans against the door, his shoulders slouching as he lacks a good conversation with you. He's clearly tired of your behaviour, he doesn't enjoy this, for one bit. There's only a limit everyone has, and you've surely crossed it months ago. He can't blame the pregnancy that's allowing you to conduct these actions. You've always been arrogant, picky, and stubborn with what you want.

it's just the way you are, and he feels sorry for the one who falls in love with you. it's a black hole that no one would manage to climb out of. The silence between the two of you gets heavy. A good 15 minutes vanished in this polluted air of tension, annoyance. Jungkook gets tired of watching the ground and walls, he's been staring at it for long that he'd managed to get a count of the geometric circles of the traditional patterned carpet that lays on the files. He'd had enough of this, so he walked inside.

There, he sees you seated on the couch with your legs crossed and folded arms, watching out the window, with a deep frown that sat on your face. Before he says a word, he licks his lips to prepare for another army of words just in case you had yours ready, too. before either of you could spill out anything,

your stomach rumbled loud, not only leaving Jungkook shocked but surprised you too. you meet his face, and he sees yours, holding his head high as he bites into his inner cheek to prevent himself from unintentionally letting out a laugh to gas up our embarrassment.

"that-" he points at your belly with his index finger while you look at him with red cheeks of shame. "Says enough." gulping down the blob of saliva down your throat, there's no point to win you, you admit it that you are famished so you must lose to eat. Although this argument could go on for days, you give up to satisfy your bottomless pit. With slow nods, Jungkook finally deeply exhales as you agreed to him. He didn't want you to be hungry.

Heck, he wouldn't do this to any human. He walks out of the room after he mumbles, "I'll be waiting out." you watched him step out and then stomp on your feet. you hate losing! but since the result of it is food, at this point, you don't care. it's immature, these arguments. He knows it, so do you, yet it happens? because that's at least allowing you two to talk, if not. if it were peaceful, it would be worse without any words exchanged. with two introverts, especially. or at least to each other.

"you're sure you wouldn't feel tired?" you kept whining that you wanted to walk around, to look at the streets and feel the city. Jungkook was not very happy about it, yet he decided to let it sink. do what you want so he doesn't get himself trapped in one of your webs. you are very prone to irritation, and that affects him. you stroll down the streets with Jungkook beside you.

He left his coat back in his room. It's much lighter to be with his shirt and inner waistcoat. you didn't bother to pack lengthy outfits as the sun shines bright even to leave you pouring in sweat. Instead you roam around the lanes dressed up in a relaxed fit cream shorts that had the cotton shirt comfortably tucked in, showing the littlest of the bump and a linen white shirt added a slight touch of polished vibes.

you're comfortable, that's enough, that's all you need. looking over at Jungkook, you really wonder how he looks effortlessly with that suit on, no stain of sweat and even the slightest of it, does not eliminate any odour. It's such a blessing to him. his hands stay inside the pocket of his linen pants while your fingers keep pointing at all the random stuff that comes in front of your eyes. "No way, I see the Eiffel Tower, a mile away."

"No, it's not just a mile away! It just looks closer because it's the tallest building here." you gape at him, stopping your tracks as you face him with a wide mouth. He turns back and looks at you, confused so his eyebrows raise. "what?" "oh my god, Jungkook. Thank you for enlightening me. I totally did not know that it's the tallest building here."

"you're welcome." He responds with a smirk and continues to walk forward, trying his best to stop himself from smiling as the look of your screwed face proves to him that you expected a different reaction from him.

"Jerk." "stupid." you both whispered under your breaths as you walked faster to match up to his pace. The streets are so empty here that it just made you realise how happening Korea is. The city roads of Seoul were always filled with a diverse crowd, various languages filling the air even at 3 am in the night. The neon lights and signs gave colour to the sidewalks whereas in France, it's all hues of beige and cream. quite boring for a young adult as you.

that isn't the same case for Jungkook. However, he didn't mind it. Of course, he prefers Seoul. After all, it's where his heart lives. but he isn't fascinated by anything like you are. He's boring, he admits it. The two of you walk down the streets in silence, a gap in between each other as you admire the surroundings while he just wants you to be done with it so he can go back to the hotel and relax.

"oh my god, do you smell that?" you stop abruptly, and your face suddenly lights up when the aroma of cheesy garlic pizza dough brushes under your nose, calling you to meet it. Jungkook looks at you, taking a deep breath, trying to smell what you're talking about, but he doesn't get it.

he just gets a deep inhale of the smoke the brunette man puffed past Jungkook. "wha-" "pizza!! can i have pizza?" 'Oh not again,' he thinks, rolling his eyes at the mention of pizza. you've been eating way too much of that, and he's not happy about it. 'She's gonna birth a damn cholesterol child if she continues to eat these.' "y/n, let's get you some salad-" "i did not come to freaking Paris to have some leaves?! i need to try some french pizza?" 'Is French pizza a thing? I've heard of Italian pizza but french?' "Let's try a healthier option-" "no, I want pizza!!"

You cross your arms and pull it towards your chest. He knows that look of your face, the deep crease of your forehead, and that pout on your lips while you stare at the ground, not getting what you want. Jungkook knows this is only a move to trap him. He doesn't want you to eat it. Heck, he wouldn't want anyone to eat such oily, nasty, junk food.

but he's nothing next to you. He must think quickly. if not pizza, then you're just directly going back to the hotel, empty stomach. He stands in front of you, looking at your face. you're not whiny because that's a part of you.

You're whiny because pregnancy has made you so. Pregnancy brings great changes to women. Some women undergo less to no changes in their moods or behaviour, some of them are always depressed, some are way too happy and some just have attitude problems. with you, you've had an attitude all your life. Things got worse with pregnancy hormones.

"Look, let's get healthy pizza. satisfy you and me." "I'm the pregnant one here, and I'm craving for pizza from this-" you point at the restaurant in front of you.

"is exactly what i'm craving for. I'm not having anything else!" Jungkook knows nothing is in his favour or control and arguing with a woman like you? no chance. He's not taking the risk. He's literally in the middle of the street. You might cry and scream out for help saying he's molesting you or forcing on you.

That's the type you are. "are you sure, maybe there are better places down the-" "a one thousand and two per cent!" "fine." He walks inside the little pizza shop, the doorbell dings letting the staff inside know that they've got new customers.

"Bonjour, what would sir and madame like you have?" the man in the white apron questioned with his strong french accent. you looked around the cosy little space. It definitely looked old, and the walls were all crusty and black, but the look of the freshly baked pizzas was something else. "y/n, come here. What would you like?" you looked at the menu, which showed a wide range of options to choose from,

from a class margherita to a variety of other flavours that looked absolutely mouth-watering. "one margherita and hawaiian pizza, please." Jungkook scrunched his face in disgust. Pineapple on pizza is hideous. "Is that all?" "yes." "dining or takeaway."

"take-" "dining!' you interrupted the man who stood beside you, giving you a glare as he looked around the congested area and sighed. "let's sit out." He nods and does his payment in cash while you walk out and sit on one of the chairs. Jungkook joins in a minute, takes his house out of his pocket, and checks his emails and text messages for clients. "Can I say something?"

his eyes flicker over to you with a nod and then back to his phone. "you're the most boring person I've ever met in my life. My dogs, at their old age, are much more fun than you."

Jungkook puts his phone down and gives you a sarcastic fake smile and then looks at his phone again. "such a nice compliment." "of course, Mr. Jeon." you lean back on the chair, rubbing your belly. That's just a few days away from being 5 months now. you read articles on Google that interest you.

"Y/n?" Jungkook taps on the table, but you don't respond. "Y/n?" Still no answer. "Ms. Lee?" Nothing. "Oh, come on, will you just—" "Huh? What did you just say?" "Finally!" he sighs and rolls his eyes. "Food?" You glance at the table and see the pizza, warm, cheesy, and fresh. Instantly, you set down your phone and grab a slice.

"careful, it's hot!" "ouch-" "see? I told you." Jungkook gestures to you to wait, uses a fork and knife to slowly pull out a triangle, it's hot, and you both could clearly see the smoke gushing out. This only makes you super excited and anticipated. "here." he gives you the paper plate with a slice of a Hawaiian pizza on it, then gets back to his phone. "Hey, grab a piece for yourself, too." "Appreciate your concern, but no thanks." He muttered with a fake smile.

"Try it, Jungkook! I promise it's good!" "I don't think pineapple on my pizza is a good idea. It's a joke. I'm not having it." the both of you were adamant. you cut out a piece and poked your fork into it, bringing it closer to his face, but your arm is only so short. "try it!" "no y/n, do you not understand english?" you've let him go. Clearly, you don't care about him, but you want him to try one of your favourite pizzas.

You want the reaction. simple. standing from your chair, you pull it over to sit beside him. "I will not eat it!" "you must try it!" "no!" "please Jungkook! just one bite, just one!!!" you put the fork to his face, see your face with that pout. "oh, come on, it won't kill you." "fine." He sighs and takes the fork from your hand.

He doesn't want you to feed him, and neither were you planning to. "how. is. it?" you eagerly wait for his reaction as you look at him with wide ears, sparkling in excitement. Jungkook's face scrunches up at first, and then it becomes blank, expressionless. "Tell me!!!" "good."

"what?" "it's good, deaf!" "see, i told you!!! have this piece now." 'oh hell no-' "come on, eat with me, we will obviously not come to Paris again together, so eat up." He looks at your face, like, 'obviously, I'm not taking you anywhere again.' you gobble down the pizza, big bites that he didn't know that your mouth could open this wide. A little pineapple sticks up your nostril that makes him chuckle, which he soon bites back.

"I know it's stuck up there. don't laugh." "so take it off!" "shut up!!" the both of you giggle while he has his share of the pizza, too.

“I can’t believe you’re the CFO!”

Hongjoong and Seonghwa watched the playful banter going on back and forth between you two with amused grins on their faces. You stuck your tongue out at MITO while the tattooed man laughed loudly. You were busy making copies of this document Yeosang handed to you wordlessly. In fact, he hasn’t said one word to you since you entered his domain of the simulation! According to Matz, he, along with the Chois, are the quietest members of the pirate kings. The virus must’ve noticed this and used it to its advantage in order to corrupt him. You’re a social butterfly so this’ll be sort of difficult for you. 

“I think you have enough copies, love.”

You looked down and saw that MITO was right. You had more than enough copies for Yeosang. You quickly stopped the copier and stacked up the copies neatly before carrying the stack of papers in your hands and walking briskly back to Yeosang’s office. You knocked on his door once or twice before hearing his honey-like baritone voice telling you to come in. 

“Hello! Here are the copies of the document, Mr. Kang!”

Another thing that made it difficult for you? You absolutely had no idea what he looked like! Whenever you entered his office, the back of his chair was always facing you. As much as you were curious about what he looked like, you decided to remain respectful. According to MITO, a lot of the employees have tried to see what he looked like. For what purpose? You weren’t entirely sure. However, you were sure about one thing. 

The employees that attempted to see his face? They were fired. The really bad ones?

They were blacklisted from every single job market. 

You didn’t want to be the next person. 

“Ms. Jung, could you take a couple of calls for me? I’m finalizing the meetings for the investors interested in my company.”

You didn’t bother hiding the swooning expression on your face since you were looking at his chair. He really had such a beautiful voice and you tried not to shudder at the thought of it being laced with anger or hatred. 

“Of course, Mr. Kang! Is there anything else you need me to do in the meantime before or after the calls?”

“No. You may go.”

You had whiplash at the way his voice turned cold instantly. Nonetheless, you nodded and turned around to leave his office. On the way back to your own office, you held a hand close to your chest, no doubt feeling the rapid beating of your heart. You felt silly for swooning over someone’s voice, but you made do with what you had. Sitting down at your desk, you picked up the company phone and dialled up the people Yeosang told you to call.

He was no longer sounding cold towards you and even allowed you to accompany him on either business meetings or business trips. Most of the time, it was business meetings. You weren’t complaining though. Despite walking a respectable distance behind him, you couldn’t deny that he looked good from the back. 

“Damn.”

You whispered to yourself as you took in what he wore today. He wore an all-black suit underneath an olive green leather trench coat. His wavy black hair (almost the same length as Seonghwa’s blonde hair) was styled up in the exact same way as Seonghwa. The cologne he wore smelled fresh and had hints of something woody. He walked with such grace and poise, almost akin to a royal prince. When you entered the meeting room, everyone stood up and bowed before sitting back down in their respective seats. You immediately went straight into one of the deep corners of the meeting room and sat down before taking out a notepad and paper. Being a bartender, you’re used to writing down orders at lightning speed so you figured this would be a breeze. Soon, the meeting started. 

THREE HOURS LATER 

After an endless stream of talk about investment strategies and future plans for the company, Yeosang ended the meeting and stuck around for idle chatter about anything else. You could tell he was gearing towards sprinting out of the room as soon as possible. His social battery looked drained. You just stood there and observed everyone. A woman soon approached you and your guard was immediately up. You weren’t expecting to talk to anyone other than MITO, Matz, and Yeosang. She had silver (bordering dark grey) hair, sharp eyes, and a pristine pantsuit on. 

“You’re Natasha, right?”

You nodded rapidly and the woman chuckled before looking back at Yeosang, who was still talking with some of the businessmen still lingering about. She then turned back to you and leaned in to whisper in your ear. 

“Cut the crap. He isn’t paying attention. Your name is Y/N, right?”

What the hell?

How did she know?

You wearily stared at her and felt the hairs on the back of your neck stand up as she revealed your real name in such a menacing voice. She saw how nervous you became before laughing softly and clasping your shoulder gently. You flinched under her touch and lightly shrugged off her hand before straightening your back and eying her bravely. 

She could step on you and you wouldn’t even know it. That’s how intimidating she was. 

“Relax. I’m not here to hurt you. In fact, I’m here to protect you. Just like how I’ve been protecting Yeosang ever since the virus entered the simulation.”

What…?

“You? Protecting Yeosang?”

“I know! Believe me. I know. But MITO hired me to make sure that innocent little bean over there doesn’t get hurt.”

“Innocent? Yeosang?”

The woman nodded and you found yourself becoming intrigued with the mystery that’s Yeosang. 

“Even though he’s one of the strongest men in Halateez, he’s actually a pacifist. The last time he grew violent, he almost hurt someone. Even though that person is ok, he still hasn’t lifted a finger against anyone. Sure, it does make him susceptible to a lot of teasing, but everyone knows that his kind and gentle soul is something to protect all the time. Hongjoong was surprised to see him join. But it seems like he fits in with the group and all considering he’s the messenger.”

“That… fits him well actually.”

“This is all I can tell you. The virus might be listening in so I’ll stop right there.”

You nodded in understanding, finally painting a picture in your mind and memorizing how Yeosang truly is. Mayhaps his non-chalant and dismissive personality is his subconscious’s way of protecting his soul from those who wish to taint it. 

That includes the virus. 

“Looks like you have to leave. If you need to reach out to me, my name is CL.”

The woman, now named CL, stuck out her hand for you to shake it. You took her hand in yours and shook it firmly, feeling the power radiate off her the more you stand in her presence. After letting go, you bid goodbye to her and followed Yeosang out of the meeting room. Since it was within the company building, you only had to take the elevator back down to the sixth floor. 

“Meet me in my office. I have something to discuss with you.”

You nodded upon hearing Yeosang’s request and soon watched him leave the elevator once it reached the sixth floor. You waited a few seconds before exiting as well. You quickly went back to your office to set your things down before looking up and jumping at the sight of MITO laying sideways in a sexy pose. 

“Hey. Come here often?”

“Boy, if you don’t -”

MITO laughed and got up before shoving his hands in his pockets and leaning against the wall of your office. You guessed he was here for an update so you laid it on him. You recalled all the changes Yeosang made subtly and your encounter with CL, Yeosang’s guardian in the simulation. MITO nodded and stood up straight before laying a hand on your shoulder. 

“You’re making good progress, but knowing what CL has relayed to you, you might want to hurry up.”

“I know but still! You and Matz know how Yeosang is! Don’t you think I’m trying hard to work quickly without messing anything up?”

“I know, love. I know. And I’m sorry. I completely forgot about Yeosang’s personality. I just…”

“It’s ok, MITO. Just don’t lose faith in me.”

“You’ve woken up two of the eight members. Specifically, the most important two. Trust me. My faith in you won’t waver.”

MITO wrapped his arms around you in a warm and reassuring hug. You hugged him back before letting him go and quickly exiting your office. After all, you didn’t want to leave Yeosang waiting. When you entered his office, you cleared your throat to announce your presence. Normally, Yeosang would immediately start talking. However, he did something different this time. 

He turned around in his chair and stood up before walking over towards you. 

‘Holy shit! He looks so fucking gorgeous! And he willingly showed his face to me!’

“Come sit with me, Natasha.”

You nodded dumbly as you walked towards the couch, your eyes still glued onto his face. You probably looked stupid for drooling over his statue-esque features and gushing over the birthmark near the side of his right eye. You sat down on the pristine couch and Yeosang sat next to you. 

Closely. 

His arm was draped over the top of the couch and secured its place behind you while his other hand was placed over his lap. He stared at you with adoration and admiration while you busied yourself with making sure your pencil skirt didn’t rise up as you sat down. You looked back up at him again and your breath caught in your throat when you realized just how close he is to you. 

“It seems that I’m a little dumb.”

“For what?”

“For not appreciating you enough.”

“Oh? And why is that?”

Yeosang sighed, absentmindedly taking your hand and rubbing your knuckles with his thumb.

“I’m a rich man. I buy anything and everything I see fit and think to myself that it’ll fill the void in my heart. I have money on my left, diamonds on my right, houses in every city I visit for business trips, and so much more. I’m full of power yet I feel empty at the same time. Nothing seems to work!”

His frustration made your heart squeeze painfully and you covered his hand with your unoccupied one. 

“Then, you came in. I don’t know what it is about you that made you stand out from the rest, but I know for a fact that you’re different. I asked if you wanted a pay raise and you declined it oh so politely. I bombarded you with difficult questions during your interview and you answered them gracefully and with ease. There’s something about you that I can’t pinpoint, but I know that you’re the one thing that’s missing in my despondent life.”

He pulled you closer to him and you felt his minty breath on your lips. 

“Tell me. What can I do to make you mine, pretty girl?”

You gulped nervously as he tenderly kissed your cheek and moved his arms so his hands could land on your waist. You made Yeosang look up at you by tapping his shoulder rapidly. He had a glazed look in his eyes yet he was ready to listen to you. With that same composed look you gave Matz, you stared at him dead in the eyes and said the words differently yet with the same conviction and determination.

“If you want me to be yours, you have to wake up.”

You pulled out a blue feather from the front pocket of your blazer and Yeosang tilted his head in confusion. Soon, the glazed look in his eyes was replaced with realization. Before he said anything though, the setting changed. You were back in the void and you watched how Matz and MITO appeared by Yeosang’s side so they could steady him while he clutched his head. 

His appearance changed and you thought he looked even more handsome than before.

His hair became shorter and was the same shade of red as Hongjoong’s. Although, it was more of a cherry red while Hongjoong’s was maroon. He wore a crisp white tee with a black tie hanging losely from his neck and the rest of his black suit had pinstripes. Like Seonghwa, he wore black leather gloves. When he looked over all you, a small and bashful grin was on his face as he bowed in front of you. 

“Thank you so much for saving me!”

Your heart melted at his politeness. 

“Glad to have you back, Yeo.”

Yeosang grinned at MITO before linking arms with him so the five of you can venture off into the next domain.

Vampire Dick Truthers (you know who you are) have a point with their Vampire Dick and Mari fics. Why not make Dick the villain in Mari's Rogue Gallery???

Overall a great trope, especially if you really delve into their characters: both are 'sunshine' characters who fight everyday to be the nice, kind heroes everyone thinks they are and expects them to be, even though it's the hardest route to take.

Any AU is amazing. I admit to having a fondness for Mob Boss Jason, partly because he is one in canon, at least for a while, and because I'm addicted to dark/mafia romance novels. Lieutenant Mari? Yes, please. Rival Mob Boss Mari? Heck yeah! Bat-affiliate Mari? Gimme. Please.

The amount of character exploration you could do if you wrote a romance where they actually stayed together, looking at you, DC is intriguing. Would Jason change for someone he loved? Would he give up crime lording? Would Mari accept him anyways but then they'd have to deal with one half running from the law/vigilantes and the other half being on the vigilantes' side?

Also, soft Jason. Nerding out over books and music and fashion and appreciating the fine things in life and meeting this cute fashion designer with a penchant to listen to Jagged Stone-

A/N: this story began as a drabble bc i love dramatic scenes, whether in movies, television or books. confrontation is always one of my favorite things about them so i decided to try to write one for the first time ever. clearly i still have a lot to learn but i hope you like it!

Another meeting, another group of incompetent people that I can't believe I hired. Sitting at the end of a long wood table, I scrolled through my phone reading a few emails while all the shareholders took their positions. It was absurd that I had to call a meeting on Friday night because of a predictable and, quite frankly, stupid mistake but here we were.

“Mr. Kim, we're ready” my secretary said discreetly as she handed me a folder filled with documents.

“Thank you” I replied as I got up from the chair and started spreading the papers on the table in front of me.

“Good evening! First, I would like to thank you all for coming on such short notice. The reason for this emergency meeting is to talk about the purchase of a few Min Industries shares” I paused and gazed into the eyes of everyone present. Some of them were curious, tired, others frightened and one in particular very angry.

“I believe all of you realized that ever since it happened our company has started to fall into devaluation, thanks to someone’s stupid and hasty decision” I continued while looking at the documents before me. “I don't want an explanation about what happened or why it happened, just how we are going to solve it” I turned and faced my main suspect, “Today”

“Mr. Kim, if I may, I think I speak for everyone here when I say that there is nothing legally wrong with the purchase” said Lee Sung, one of our oldest and most efficient lawyers. Still, it was a matter of principle for me and everyone knew that.

“I understand, Mr. Lee, but this is not what I'm worried about” I began calmly walking around the table while elaborating my thoughts, “You see... although Min Industries doesn’t compete directly with us they have affiliates who do. Therefore…”

“Therefore it’s smart to buy the shares precisely because it gives us more control over the affiliates” said Y/N, interrupting me.

I couldn't help the smirking that escaped my lips. Y/N took the bait and it was all I needed. From the beginning, I knew she was the one leading the expansion project and everything was going well until she put my credibility with Min Yoon Gi in check.

Yoon Gi and I are old friends, practically brothers, but our families have a particular rivalry that has lasted for almost 50 years. It is nothing that explicit or dramatic. An outsider wouldn't see the animosity, for example. I see it as a truce, however, it's still a delicate matter for our parents and grandparents. When we both took over the businesses, we agreed that we would not repeat their mistakes and promised to interfere as little as possible in each other's company. If it was strictly necessary, we would have to talk before any steps were taken. That was the deal and that is why I was furious at Y/N's audacity to make a decision like this one. She was aware of our family's situation even if not exactly about what I had promised my friend.

“Are you serious, miss Y/LN?”

“Why would I be kidding?” she replied looking confused, twisting the pen between her fingers like she was bored.

“I have no idea, but to call that a smart decision, one that immediately impacts my company's profit, not to mention my personal reputation, seems like a joke. And a bad one to say the least” I said, staring at her intensely as I approached her chair.

The atmosphere got heavy and I couldn't care less. I was right and everyone knew it. Y/N took a risk, as she is paid to do, but the risk was not worth it and she needed to take responsibility for it. If it was anyone else I would have already fired without even calling a meeting. Luckily, she's a key part of the company and one of the shareholders as well so I decided to scold her in front of others to send a subtle warning that nothing goes unnoticed by me and that measures will always be taken, regardless of the level of the hierarchy. This is my way to send a warning because I don't do threats.

Y/N gulped and shifted in her chair, visibly uncomfortable with my proximity.

“So I'm going to ask you again, miss Y/N: are you serious?” I crossed my arms and tilted my head to the side, watching her try very hard not to lose her composure. I had known Y/N for a long time and she always managed to be as cold as me, yet on occasions where her professionalism was questioned her replies used to be impulsive.

“Mr. Kim, I'll be frank” she started, standing up and walking towards the pulpit next to the projection screen. “It was indeed a risk on my part to put Vante Enterprises ahead of such a high-profile acquisition and, for the embarrassment caused, I sincerely apologize”

“Why do I feel like there's a 'but' coming?” I asked, sitting on the chair that she left vacant.

“But"

“See?” I turned to Seo Nu sitting on my left. He laughed politely because I laughed first. Deep down he didn't think it was funny and just wanted to suck up to me. Clever.

“But I still believe that in the long run, we’ll reap great results… excellent results, in fact! Here's a chart” Y/N pointed at the screen in front of us and began to confidently defend her decision, clearly and calmly, completely different from the Y/N of a minute ago who I thought would lose her temper.

The meeting room broke out in applause as soon as Y/N finished presenting a chain of detailed information regarding the shares, and although I was surprised by the level of research she prepared, I was unable to hide my dissatisfaction as CEO by confirming that Y/N still didn't understand the problem.

“Could you guys excuse us?” I looked at Y/N and then at the other shareholders. Since the person responsible presented herself there was no need to keep putting on a show, right? I got up, buttoned my jacket, and returned to my original spot on the table to organize the papers I had left lying there.

While arranging them all in a pile, the room emptied and Y/N approached.

“You love to exaggerate things, don't you?” she snarled looking me up and down.

“You love to ignore the rules and interfere with what doesn't concern you, don't you?” I fired back mimicking her attitude.

Y/N stopped for a moment and studied my expression. For a split second, I could feel a question in the air as if she wanted to know if that's what I actually thought of her — a nosy and unprofessional person who ignored her superiors on purpose. I didn’t. She looked hurt. Still, her voice gave no indication that my response had affected her.

“I love my work! It's great and you pay me well” she said, taking the papers from my hand. “Oh, what do we have here?”

“Don't be childish, give me the papers Y/N” I motioned my hands and closed my eyes feeling exhausted.

“What are these projections? How come I have never seen them before?” Y/N's voice came out louder than before depicting a mixture of shock and disbelief. “There is no actual proof that these companies are connected, it doesn't make sense” she walked back to the pulpit, eyes glued to the documents to compare the numbers and references with the slides she had spent hours preparing.

“Y/N give me the papers, that information is above you” I demanded in a firm tone. “Besides, my intention with today's meeting was to get you to find a solution to your own mess but even that you weren't able to”

“How can I solve it if I don't have all the information, Tae Hyung?” Y/N lowered the papers she was gripping so tightly in front of her face and I could see red, teary eyes along with the angry tone in her voice. She hadn't called me Tae Hyung since college and that felt like a blow in my stomach.

“If I had known that the companies were connected I would have thought twice before buying the shares... I…” Y/N's voice failed but she cleared her throat and continued “...this is your fault!”

“Mine?” I asked dumbfounded.

“You left me in the dark and I made an important decision without having all the information” she pushed the papers onto my chest and started pulling the projector's wires angrily, “This is not what I call trust”

“Seriously? Are we going to talk about trust? Bit ironic, don’t you think?” I started chasing her around the room while she collected her belongings and threw them into a big purse.

Y/N snorted like what I just said was absurd.

“You know very well the situation between my family and Yoon Gi's. I always made it clear that we don't do business with them and yet you went there and did it” I placed my hand on top of her purse, preventing her from continuing what she was doing. “Where is my trust in you now?” I questioned her almost in a pleading tone.

Y/N pulled the purse off the table in one swift motion and I almost lost my balance.

“You know what? You're right. I was wrong” she said, looking defeated. “I shouldn't have shown interest in shares that involved Yoon Gi's company, but you definitely shouldn't have hidden these documents from me either” she continued taking a few steps back, slowly moving away from me. “And that's where you fucked up. You're still obsessed with secrets and rules, keeping everyone who tries to help you away"

“Wait a minute” I interjected. This was unfair, it was not like that.

“I'm not done talking” she gazed at me very seriously and I had no choice but to stop and listen. “I know that we have differing opinions on many things and I have teased you too much in the past 10 years with my analysis and requirements, but I never... I say never... would do anything that would harm the company”

“I know” I whispered, feeling kind of dumb for blurting it all out like that.

“It doesn't look like it” she placed the purse on her shoulder. “For me, you're trying to find a reason to get me out of here”

My jaw dropped in shock. Y/N had no idea how much I valued her work, and at this very moment, I didn't know what to say first. An apology? An explanation? A plea? I could have said anything, but I didn't. Not even a fucking sound. My mouth remained open as my thoughts flew through my mind at a frightening speed, making it look like I was confirming her impression.

“I’m gonna save you the trouble. I quit”

Y/N gave me what looked like a small bow or maybe a quick nod as if to excuse herself and then left the room without another word, leaving me leaning against the table without understanding what had just happened, finding myself, for the first time in a long time, completely alone.
